“Barbie” star Margot Robbie’s next film, “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” will hit the big screen in 2025.
Sony Pictures, the distributor of the film added its May 9 release schedule for Mother’s Day weekend. The studio announced “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” as its next female-led event film, following Blake Lively’s book-to-screen adaptation “It Ends with Us,” which earned $180 million worldwide after ten days of its release.
The co-stars of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey Colin Farrell and is described as an imaginative story of two strangers and the extraordinary emotional journey that connects them. Calahan Skogman, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lily Rabe, Hamish Linklater and Phoebe Waller-Bridge also star in the romantic fantasy. Kogonada directed the film from a script by Seth Reiss.
30West is financing A Big Bold Beautiful Journey. Dan Friedkin, Ryan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas of Imperative Entertainment will produce the film alongside Seth Reiss and Youree Henley. Executive producers are Ilene Feldman, Kogonada and Ori Eisen.
After Sony Pictures won a bidding war to acquire the film in February, Tom Rothman, chairman of the studio’s motion picture group, called it “a project from heaven.”
“Every time you do this job, you read a script that is so special and original that you fly until the last inspired and uplifting page,” Tom Rothman said at the time. “We believe that the audiences are desperate for originality, and we are honored and grateful to everyone involved for winning out of it”
